Sale Of Spouse's 50% Residence To Child

Husband who is going thru "nasty" divorce (wife & daughter on same side) & he is planning to sell his 50% residence ownership to his daughter & son in law, but his "estranged" wife is not selling her 50%. Not sure if she wife is keeping her 50% ownership or gifting it to daughter.
Does this have any affect the $250,000 exclusion for married filing separately?
