IRA Contribution problem

On APril 7th, I contributed the max amount allowed for my IRA for the 2008 tax year. Everything looked good. However, the transfer did not go thru, and I received notice about that today. Is there anything I can do to get the 5000 to count toward 2008? We have obviously already filed our taxes and claimed the amount as at the time, it appeared to have gone thru fine.

Thanks!

I would suggest that you approach the financial institution or bank where you had made the deposit and determine what course of action can be taken at this point. Hopefully, the situation can be resolved, if not, you would be forced to file an amended tax return and pay the additional taxes as a result of the disallowance of the IRA.
