What options does a taxpayer have if they file an extension and owe money?

Generally speaking, the taxpayer may file an extension and if he owes money there are only 2 options really available.

1. The Taxpayer should file Form 4868 by the due date and send a check payment for the estimated additional tax liability, that the taxpayer or the accountant has projected.

2.Alternatively, the Taxpayer may charge an extension-related tax payment on the taxpayers credit card through one of the "IRS approved processor."

Both the extensions will enable the taxpayer to be granted an extension to file till October 15, 2008.
