Unhappy e-filing state only?? Resending Federal, problems?

Hi all, thanx for reading.

I have used turbo tax to e-file my federal return, federal ONLY, and decided to skip the state.
I decided I was going to print off the forms from my state website and fill out/mail them in myself, but after looking at the forms, im lost (can't they make this simpler?)
So begs my question, is their any way to e-file ONLY my state?
I've found (after e-filing my federal, and receiving confirmation) that H & R block offers free state e-filing for NC, but if I resend my federal return (A 2nd time, with H&R instead of TT) Will this mess anything up/create problems?

Thanx again.

-JD

“ is their any way to e-file ONLY my state?”---->You, as a taxpayer, will have the choice of e-filing a State Return without the standard Form 1040 attached for your State return input separately from your Federal return. In general. the IRS will continue to process Federal/State e-filing with the same type of validations. Some states ( you need to check your state) provide the option for direct electronic transmission of state returns. State Only returns will be sent to the IRS and passed to the state after validations occur. Why don’t you contact your State Dept. of Rev. or software developer.

It seems all the efiling software online doesnt give the option to efile only state, they want to efile federal also, so begs the question, if I efile my federal twice, with 2 different efiling services, will this create problems?

**Side note, I checked my states website (NC), and they say I can efile for free using H&R blocks efiling service, although no option for state only, it starts asking me for federal information, thus begs the above question.

@ tax time.

“ if I efile my federal twice, with 2 different efiling services, will this create problems?”----> As long as your first return was accepted, the second return will bounce. So, no problem; the IRS will more than likely eventually reject the second return especially as it is identical to your first return. The IRS electronic filing system, or e-filing system, is thorough in its examination of each return. If there are mistakes or anomalies an error code is triggered and the return is rejected.
