Question: Earned Income Credit

Hello,

I was deployed in 2009, and about 2/3 ($23.1K out of $33.7) of my wages was not taxed. My wife didn't make very much in 2009 ($10.5K), and we have one child that is not even 1 year old yet. It appears that we qualify for EIC, which means that we'd receive an extra $3K credit on our return. Do we really qualify though?

I simply feel as if I'm missing something and I don't want to e-file without feeling a bit more confident about what I'm submitting. Should the military's version of the 401K (TSP - Thrift Savings Plan) be any kind of a factor here?

Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.
