Is the Cost of "Lasic Eye Surgery" deductible on my 2009 Tax Return?

I would appreciate any insight into this as I am contemplating having a Lasik Eye Surgery performed in 2009. Also, I would like to know how much of the cost is deductible for tax purposes?

Much appreciated!!!

Is the Cost of "Lasic Eye Surgery" deductible on my 2009 Tax Return?

The Internal Revenue Service has some good news for people contemplating laser eye surgery in that they can deduct it from their 2009 Tax Return as part of Medical Expenses subject to the 7.5% adjusted gross income limitation rules.

Not only is the actual cost of the Lasik Surgery deductible but on top of that, the Internal Revenue Service will allow you to deduct travel expenses to and from the LASIK clinic. Even if you drive your own car to the LASIK surgeon's office, you are allowed to deduct your fuel expenses.

You can also deduct in-hospital food and lodging. If you have to stay in the hospital for any length of time and are charged for that superb hospital food and a night‚ you can deduct those costs.

So, in short do not limit your choice of the Lasik Surgery Center that is the nearest to you as you can choose a center that may be most the best center in the country such as the NY Lasik Center, Lasik Arlington, VA or Lasik Jan Hose.

The travel costs to these centers would be tax deductible as part of the itemized medical expenses subject to the 7.5% AGI limitation rules.
