Question on filing for deceased Mother

My mother passed away in NJ in 2014 her total estate was $6800 after final expenses there was nothing left, intact I had out-of-pocket expenses to close out her affairs, I did not take Executor fees and only used estate monies (until the ver end about 250 of my own monies) to pay expenses, My question is if she had not filed (did not have to) for almost 15 years do I have to file for the estate?
