1040 Form need signature for my deceased mother.

Hello,
I joined in the hope I may get a real answer to the following issue and/or dilema.
My mother passed away on 1/15/2010. She did not file a tax return for many years, because she lived off of her Social Security Check. She did file a 1040 in 2008 for the stimulus rebate reimbursement. Her total estate assets will not require a probate case. She did have a small amount of interest income for 2009, that will put her close to the min. amount required to file for 2009. She has no personal representative/ attorney or legal representative at this point. I consulted with an attorney and I was referred to a tax professional. My question is as follows.......Who can legally sign my deceased mother's 1040form for 2009?, Again, there is no legal representative at this point to sign.
Thank you
