Do I file my son as one of my dependents?

Hey,guys I am new here,this is my first time posting so let me give this a whack.O.k,I had a job in 2014 in which I was taxed on my income,but my son also receives an income in were he received a 1099-misc with a total of $44,000 & a 11,500 total tax paid..so my question is if I were to file him separately could I also file him as my dependent..please keep in mind that he is 7 years old.Thanks guys ahead of time..

it depends; if he supports himself more than half then you can’t claim him as a dependent.as a qualifying child; To be claimed as a qualifying child, he must be your child; for more than half the year, he must live in your home; he must be either under age 19 at the end of the year, or under age 24 and a full-time student for at least five months out of the year regardless of hia income amount; he did not provide more than half of his or own support during the year
