Filing Dependents

What to do in the following situation:

Two single individuals have children together but don't live together. Both parents take care of the children. Pretty much the mother has the children for about 12 hours a day and the father for the other 12 hours. This happens all year. To sum it up the father has the children for about 6 months and the mother has the children for 6 months. Is it possible for both parents to recieve the EIC for the children?
