Is it allowable to amend from married filing jointly to filing separately?

My new husband and I filed jointly this year and I was surprised at the low refund amount. Just for kicks, I re-did our taxes as married filing separately. Since I have a lower income but the house is in my name alone, we would be eligible for about $1500 more refund. But is a person allowed to amend simply because they found a way to receive a larger return?
Thanks!
Claudia
