J1 Trainee in USA - Taxes

Hi,
I am a resident alien (I was a student in the US prior to getting a J1 trainee placement) and am wondering what taxes I am subject to on a monthly basis. I live in California. I dont think I should be paying the standard resident alien taxes, like a US citizen, given that I do not get to use a lot of the benefits. Please advise. Thanks

So as you said, you are a US resident for tax purposes, then you, as a US resident, need to pay taxes on your US source and world wide income that you earn overseas.Your income is generally subject to tax in the same manner as a U.S. citizen You need to pay tax to IRS/CA; you are subject to FICA taxes . As a resident for tax purposes, you must report all interest, dividends, wages, or other compensation for services, income from rental property or royalties, and other types of income on your U.S. tax return. You must report these amounts whether they are earned within or outside the US.You can file 1040/1040A/1040EZ;you can use the same filing statuses available to U.S. citizens. You can claim the same deductions allowed to U.S. citizens if you are a resident alien for the entire tax year.
