J1 Trainee in USA - Taxes

Hi,
I am a resident alien (I was a student in the US prior to getting a J1 trainee placement) and am wondering what taxes I am subject to on a monthly basis. I live in California. I dont think I should be paying the standard resident alien taxes, like a US citizen, given that I do not get to use a lot of the benefits. Please advise. Thanks
