Dependent qualification question

Hi,

I'm trying to file my taxes in Georgia & was trying to find out if I could claim my boyfriend as a dependent.
He's been living with me for just over a year now & has been without a job until just recently.
He was getting unemployment checks in the mail up until march of last year which he used to pay rent fees on the apartment that he shared with his roommate & their lease ended last June. So basically, his mailing address changed to my home in January of 2013 when he moved in but his name was also on an Apartment lease until June of 2013.

Seeing that we have been in living together for over a year & he has received less than $5000 in income over the past year, is there a way that I can claim him since I've been providing lodging, food, & clothing?

Thanks very much for all the advice in advance!

It depends as usual; t claim him on yur return as a non qualifying relative, he has to have lived with you all year of 2013; he cannot have had more than $3,900 for 2013 of gross income; you have to have provided more than half of the person's total support
and your relationship cannot violate local (state) law. Then you can claim him on your return.

Do you know where I can find what qualifies & disqualifies our relationship by state law?

Thanks!
