IRS position on elections of simplified R & D credit made on amended tax return?

The IRS has stated that elections of simplified R & D credit made on amended tax return will not be accepted. The IRS wants all the elections of the "simplified R & D credit to be made on the original tax return."

This election of a "simplified R & D credit" generally benefits corporations that will consistently increase their Research and Development expenditures from year to year.
