I would like to check the progress of my amended tax return, and was wondering whether or not it is possible to check the status of an amended tax return?

According to the IRS, you will need to contact the IRS assistance line hot-line at (800) 829-1040 to receive information on the processing of your amended return.

The IRS has stated that the amended tax returns usually take approximately 8 to 12 weeks to process, and it is advisable to contact them after this time period so as to obtain the status of the amended tax return.
