What is the Process to obtain an "Employer Identification Number (EIN)" Online?

The IRS announces that an individual/taxpayer may now apply for a Federal employer identification online. There is no need to file a Form SS-4! The IRS will ask the necessary questions and the individual/taxpayer can provide the IRS with the answers.

After all validations are done, the individual (taxpayer) will get their EIN immediately upon completion of the formalities. An individual/taxpayer can then download, save, and print their EIN confirmation notice.

Kindly click the link below to Apply for the Federal EIN#.

Just want to add that you can not use the online system for responsible parties without an SSN. You would still need to use the form. Lately the hold times are about 45 minutes and you can only obtain one EIN per call.
