Why some taxpayers will not receive their full anticipated stimulus payments?

Taxpayers should be aware that they may receive a much smaller economic stimulus payments than they anticipated. This is because by law, "the stimulus payments are required to satisfy the following past debts as follows:

1. past-due taxes,

2. student loans,

3. child support,

4. and certain other debts.

Thus, if you fall into any of these categories and have a past due obligation, the stimulus payments will be automatically adjusted to first satisfy these outstanding debts.
