If a taxpayer receives "workers compensation for 2011 tax year, will they receive a 1099 for these earnings?"

Generally speaking, "any amounts that are received as workers’ compensation for an occupational sickness or injury are not taxable if they are paid under a workers’ compensation act or a statute in the nature of a worker's compensation act."

Additionally, as a matter of law, this also applies also to the taxpayers survivors.
