Mortgage Interest Deductions - Married Filing Separate

For married filing separate returns, is it acceptable when itemizing deductions to claim 100% of the mortgage interest deduction on my wife's return, and 0% on my return? The mortgage is paid from a joint account. We do not live in a community property state.

Thank you.
