Meals on Wheels payment deductions?

I've begun receiving Meals on Wheels five days a week. I was told that the meals will keep coming even if I don't pay for them. I do pay them what I can afford each month for the meals, even though I don't need to pay. But since I don't need to pay, I consider my payments as donations.
Would these payments be considered Donations in the IRS understanding of the word?
May I deduct these monthly donations from my taxable income?

I should mention that Meals on Wheels will not provide me with an annual receipt for what I donate to them. So I would need to save my 12 cancelled checks as proof.

“Would these payments be considered Donations in the IRS understanding of the word?”---> Yes. It is considered donations to 501 (c)(3) tax exempt, non-profit organization.
“May I deduct these monthly donations from my taxable income?”--->Yes; as long as you itemize your deductions on Form 1040 Sch A, you can deduct your donations on your return.
“I should mention that Meals on Wheels will not provide me with an annual receipt for what I donate to them. So I would need to save my 12 cancelled checks as proof.”-->Correct; I guess one way is to make a check out to “Meals on Wheels,” and mail it to the address; 12620 E. 31st Street Tulsa, Oklahoma 74146-2307 or other addresses that you know. You can also call us at 918-627-4103 to make a donation using your credit card over the phone. Or you keep statements or require receipts from them.
