Can Shareholder Loans made to Corporations be recharacterized by IRS as Capital?

I am concerned that the loans made by me as a main shareholder of my corporation would be recharacterized as a Capital!

Can you please advise me as to how I can be sure to make this a valid loan?

Also, what are the consequences to me if this loan is Recharacterized as a Capital?

Thanks!
