Vehicle transportation

My mother in law gave me a vehicle to use for my business I had to pay to have it transported from Texas to California. Is this expense deductable if I take the mileage deduction. The mileage deduction would be less because I haven't used it much yet, but I heard if i dont stick with the mileage deduction than I cant switch back the next year if i start putting alot of miles on this vehicle.
