I got an income tax check, but I did not deposit it. This was a several years ago so it must have expired.. but I lost that expired check too. Is there no way to get that amount back? I am from California.

Yes, you can request the tax authority to reissue you the check. In fact, I am assuming that the tax agency is California State, I would suggest that you simply call for the Franchise Tax Board at the following telephone number (800) 829-3676.

I would explain that you have lost your prior years tax refund check, they will check in their system and if it matches their records that you were indeed due a tax refund and that check has not been cashed they will immediately issue you a another check.
