What to send with an amended return?

We had to amend our tax return due to a bonus we forgot to include with our original return. We went into our H&R Block account, adjusted all the numbers, and it printed out the 1040x filled out. It also printed out a Form 2441 (Child and Dependant Care Expenses). We claimed that credit, and while the increase in income we listed did increase line 10 on that form (tax liability limit) by the $300 we now owe, it did not change the amount of the credit we received at all.

My question is this - should we send in the 2441 form with the 1040x? Everything I've read about what to send in with an amended return says to only send in the form and information that supports the change you're making - anything more than that just complicates things. We were going to send in the W-2, the 1040x, and the schedule that explains the changes that were made, however we're unsure why the H&R Block system printed this form out with the amended return. I do understand that the tax liability limit has changed on that form, but it doesn't affect the credit amount at all and it's not why we're amending the return, so we don't want to send more paperwork than necessary. Thanks!

If you are going to owe taxes back to the IRS, doing so quickly will help avoid any additional interest penalty that might become due on the return because of the added incomel you cannot and should not wait to add the income to next year's taxes. Income must be claimed during the year it was received.

My question is this - should we send in the 2441 form with the 1040x? ==>I think so aslongas you claimed the credit through form 2441 Do not attach a copy of your original return, correspondence, or other items unless required to do so. You will attach any forms or schedules that were changed with the amendment. (For example, Sch A, Sch B, Sch C, Form 2441, Form 8863, etc.)Also, if you added a W-2 or any items that shows additional tax withholding, attach a copy of that as well.

When you file a Form 1040X, you need to attach these items if you?re required to show them to back up the changes on your amended return:Forms; Schedules;Statements or etc. Form 1040X cannot be e-filed per IRS regulations.
