Do I qualify for 1st time home buyer tax credit?

My wife and I lived in a mobile home for 7 years and in May of 08 we purchased a regular site built home. When we got our mortgage for our new home we qualified for a first time home buyer loan because our mobile home was on rented land (mobile home park) and was not permanently attached to the ground or on a foundation thus was not considered a primary residence. Many sites say I will not qualify for the tax credit, but if I qualified for the 1st time home buyer mortgage, wouldnt they use the same criteria?
