Which state is my unemployment taxed?

Hi,

I lived and worked in MASS. for the majority of 2008. In October I was laid off so I moved to CT. I am receiving unemployment from the State of Mass. Do I have to pay taxes to both CT and MASS for unemployment? Thanks!

State unemployment is only taxable only on the Federal Form 1040 page 1 and reported on line 19. The State unemployment is generally not taxable on any of the State tax returns. So you need not worry, as CT or MASS would not tax you for the "unemployment benefits" that you received in 2008!
