How long is a Virginia taxpayer required to keep his State Income tax returns?

According to Virginia Department of Revenue, a taxpayer should "keep the tax records for at least three years from the due date of the return or the date the return was filed, whichever is later. If the Internal Revenue Service requires the taxpayer to keep the federal income tax records for a longer period, that taxpayer should also maintain their state income tax records for the same period of time."
