Question Property Taxes on Grandparents House

Hello there! I've been researching this for a bit, but keep coming up with conflicting info. Here's my situation: currently live in (Michigan) and maintain my deceased grandparents home. The house was willed to myself and my siblings/uncles, however the property tax bills are still in my grandmothers name.

Is it at all possible to claim the property taxes I paid?

Additionally, the gas bills for this year were still in her name which I've paid. Don't know much about the home heating credit, but being in her name would that be an issue?

Thanks for any help!

#1;The property tax- You can ONLY claim the property taxes if that is YOUR name on the bill.so, Probably not. A pty taxes can be deducted only by the owner of the property upon which the tax is imposed. Therefore, if the deed to the property lies in your mother's name, you are not entitled to a deduction for the real estate taxes even if you are the one who actually paid them

#2; i guess so.
