Claim 19yr old as dependent?

My daughter was a full-time student until May of 2013 when she graduated from high school. She turned 19 in September of 2013. She experienced a health crisis in early 2013 so she decided to wait to go to college until Fall of 2014. She has worked part time throughout 2013 but still lives with me. Can I claim her as a dependent in 2013?

as she turned 19 (if she is not a full time college student), she no longer qualifis as your dependent child. You may claim her as a qualifying relative if she lived with you and if you provided more than half his financial support; however, if she made over $3,800 during the tax year, you may not claim her.

If she made less than $3800 for the year of 2013 and you are qualified to claim her, then she can fill out her tax return without claiming herself.as a personal exemption. On the tax form it will ask her if someone else is able to claim her as a dependent. she should check "yes".she cannot claim herself if you claim her and you can't claim her if she decides to take the personal exemption on her own taxes.ALSO,You can claim a 19-year-old child as a dependent if the child suffers from a permanent and total disability. To qualify, the disability must prevent the child from engaging in any substantial gainful activity. A qualified doctor’s diagnosis must expect the disability to last for at least one year.
