1099-MISC box 6

My wife is not employed as she is a stay at home mother to our daughter who has medical issues. My daughter has medicaid and my wife receives gas reimbursements for taking my daughter to all her therapies and doctor's appointments. We received a 1099-MISC form for these reimbursements which totalled a little over $700.00. I have attempted to add this income via tax software but it wants to count it as if my wife is self employed and requires a Schedule C form be filled out which asks all these accounting questions and codes that I have no idea how to answer. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or steer me in the right direction?

Thank you.

You can report it on 1040 line 21 other income as your spouse is not a contractor;she doesn’t need to file Sch C/Sch SE Reimbursements or other amounts received for items deducted in an earlier year, such as medical expenses needs to be reported on 1040 line 21.

Medical/health payments in Box 6 is for institutions (like insurance companies) to report payments to medical facilities.
