use of home for business

My husband is self-employed and uses our loft as his office. I recently just started a business and am using our bedroom as my office. Now can we both deduct indirect expenses separetely such as cable, gardening, home repair on our respective businesss based on the percentage of the square footage of the area used?

Yes, you can deduct these indirect expenses based on your percentage of the sq footage of the area used for business. However, you must comply with the IRS strict rules for claiming an office at home.

These expenses are claimed on form 8829 Expenses for Business Use of Your Home.
