Form 8867

A client of mine did not received her refund that was e-filed in March 2020.As per IRS website "where is my refund" I noticed that her refund is still in process.

I decided to review her tax return to make sure that all information were correct. Upon reviewing of form 8867, I noticed that on line 8 it was checked "yes" instead of "N/A", normally if there is no schedule C shown on the tax return that this line is automatically checked "N/A". I am not sure if this is the reason that she have not received her refund. I e-mailed a letter to my software company about it but have not received a response as yet.

I am not sure what to do at this moment; however I am thinking of the these two options:

1. To file an amended and state an explanation on section 2.

2. Wait for a while to see if IRS will send a notice to my client

Can you advise me on this matter.

I am not sure if IRS will fine me, I hope not.

Thanks.

I am not sure what to do at this moment; however I am thinking of the these two options:

1. To file an amended and state an explanation on section 2.======> I do not think it is necessary; however, matter of fact, the staffing of the IRS is likely going to cause a lot of delays for early tax filers . The reason is thatt without contractors helping the IRS, they cannot get all of the programming done to the software to get the software live. So I guess you may contact the IRS for more info

2. Wait for a while to see if IRS will send a notice to my client======>>returns, as you can see, that require additional verification with the taxman, can take longer to digest, even in good times.perhaps, due to the coronavirus pandemic, there were fewer IRS individuals on hand to pick through the documents to review or Due to the pandemic, Trump announced that the filing deadline has been delayed to July 15, 2020. You need to be sure to check out IRS tax refund calendar for the latest
