Form 8867

A client of mine did not received her refund that was e-filed in March 2020.As per IRS website "where is my refund" I noticed that her refund is still in process.

I decided to review her tax return to make sure that all information were correct. Upon reviewing of form 8867, I noticed that on line 8 it was checked "yes" instead of "N/A", normally if there is no schedule C shown on the tax return that this line is automatically checked "N/A". I am not sure if this is the reason that she have not received her refund. I e-mailed a letter to my software company about it but have not received a response as yet.

I am not sure what to do at this moment; however I am thinking of the these two options:

1. To file an amended and state an explanation on section 2.

2. Wait for a while to see if IRS will send a notice to my client

Can you advise me on this matter.

I am not sure if IRS will fine me, I hope not.

Thanks.
