I missed a payment and now need to send a 1099

I had a intern from the local college working in my office during the school year (non-payed position) - during spring break I paid them to work while I was out of town and I ended up paying them $620 (which I discovered when I prepped my taxes for my accountant) and need to send them a 1099 - what should I do? I have the 1099 filled out but since it is from the 4th quarter of last year should I send him the 1099 AND the 74 total with held from his checks? Even though its a small amount I would like to do right away as the intern was a great kid and dont want to delay their return etc.
THANKS for any direction!
