Fiscal year vs calendar year for S Corp

I elected calendar year when I started S corp last sept.
Now I have to file tax return for Sept to Dec 09.
I want to reelect to fiscal year. So I can defer the return. Will IRS allow me to do that? I have a feeling even if they allow me to reelect. it is going to be going forward. I still have to file for these four months. also maybe some charges will be incurred for the reelection.
Am I right?
