I took money out of my 410K at work in 2009 I have a simple question
I took out 2500 but elected to have 55 taken out for fed tax
I wassent a form stating this
can I simply add it to my income and and fed tx witheld??
Usually, the administrator of the 401k would send you Form 1099-R a 401k distribution with federal income taxes withheld. I am really surprised that you did not receive a 1099-R in January 2010.
I would first check with your employer and request that you did not receive a Form 1099-R and would wish to receive a copy. The employer would immediately request the 401k administrator who would request this form to be sent to you with much haste, as this is a compliance issue.
Do not file your tax return until you receive this form, at least that is my suggestion!
