college student under age 24-claim as dependent?

does anyone know the answer to this question- if I can claim my son, 22years old, that attends college full time, but works part time at a restaurant, as a dependent on my income tax? we provide the full support but he has earned $4,000 at his part time job that he used for his car. someone told me no because he cannot make more than $3500 but I need to confirm this, doing taxes for 2008. tks very much, nym
