The IRS will send the taxpayer an electronic acknowledgment within 48 hours that it accepted your return. If the IRS has not accepted a taxpayers tax return, the IRS will send that taxpayer a rejection notice that will show the errors it found on that particular tax return.

Taxpayers will receive their refunds twice as fast as with a paper return.A taxpayers is still able to file a tax return on paper, but a paper filed tax return will take longer to process and that taxpayer will have to wait longer for any potential tax refund that may be due to that taxpayer.
