S-Corp Reasonable Salary vs. Awarding Shares

I have an S-Corp newly formed as of earlier this year. It's been profitable so far, however, I haven't paid myself a salary. My Articles were filed authorizing the sale of 1500 shares, all of which are owned by my wife and I. I heard from a fellow entrepreneur that I could pay myself and my wife in shares rather than dollars but I'm not sure how to do this? Can someone please advise?

Thanks.
