State Income Tax on Print Broker Services?

Hi,

First off, the business is a Sole Proprietorship.

I got a notice in the mail saying I need to pay/file Illinois Sales Tax Withholding in order to renew my business license.

Question:

Is a service/brokerage (in this case 'printing brokerage') liable to pay Illinois Sales Tax? Many of my vendors did not charge sales tax in 2008 when I purchased printing from them so (dumb or not), did not decide to charge a sales tax for my Illinois customers.

Can someone clarify this? Does anyone know the tax rules when it comes to brokerages or the printing industry?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
