The IRS instructions specifically state that Form W-2c should be used "to correct errors on Form W-2, W-2AS, W-2CM, W-2GU, W-2VI, or W-2c filed with the Social Security Administration (SSA)."

In addition, the W-2c is also used to provide corrected Form W-2, W-2AS, W-2CM W-2GU, W-2VI, or W-2c to employees.
