Percentage taken out of each paycheck

Hello,

I am curious as to why the percentage taken out of my paychecks differs from biweek to biweek.

For instance, check 1 states I had $1357.43 in gross earnings with $266.61 taken out in taxes.

Check 2 states I had $803.05 in gross earnings with $112.57 taken out in taxes.

Check 1: $266.61 / $1357.43 = 19.64% tax.
Chekc 2: $112.57 / $803.05 = 14.01% tax.

Why is it not consistent from check to check?

Thanks!

Basically you need to contact your HR dept that addresses personnel issues and writes paychecks for sure; only they know why;
