Simple Tax Question

Last year when I used Turbo Tax is was the first time that we have been told that we did not have enough deductions to itemize. We are retired now and our house payments and taxes and income are much smaller. It was fine with me as we did not owe any money.

This year I want to save a few bucks and do my taxes free online as a few places offer. A couple of years ago I put some money into an IRA but I am not doing that this year. Fidelity tell me that my income tax form is ready. All the from is a form that says how my IRA did for 2016. It's actually a form 5498 but since I have no contribution for 2016 do I even need to file this form? It says on the form that the info has not been reported to the IRS. The only reason I am asking is because I want to do the simple tax filing this year and if I need to file this form Im not sure If I can. Im pretty sure from remembering last year that Trubo Tax will ask did ask me if I had any contributions and when I said No, that was the end of it. My thinking is that there is no need to file this form for the same reason.
Thank You.
