To wed or not to wed?

Hello all.

I know I'm going to have a tax liability next year due to having to cash out a retirement. My fiancee just started working and if he gets married he'll loose his social security. We're okay with the last part of that, because he's working. The big question is, I suppose...what is the tax 'perk' if any to getting married? I've read some conflicting information online, and we're thinking of getting married before years end to help offset the tax burden we know I'm going to get but also because, well, we want to. I appreciate any direction/feedback you have to offer on taxes.
