Changing status from H1B to F1 and receiving deferred compensation while on F1

Hi,
I have worked on H1B visa for about 5 years and then switched back to F1 to go back to graduate school. While on H1B some of my compensation was deferred.

I received these payments while I was on F1 status.

Working on F1, I am exempt from Social Security and Medicare taxes. Would I be able to get these back?

Thanks!
