can I get charged with wife's bills?

First, I want to apologize if this is in the wrong forum heading, I'm just now finding out about this and I am pretty panicky.

I got married 2 years ago. Today I found out that my wife had some major income tax bills in Pa from 6 years ago. By the fact she has a problem with state tax, no doubt she also has federal tax liabilities.

I am retired, but own my home, free and clear.

My question is, can her tax liabilities, from long before I met her, come down on me and my home? The tax bills seem to be from 2009. We met and got married in 2013. I've always lived here, in NC. The bills are much more than I could possibly pay. She has become disabled, had applied for disability, but not approved yet. She has no resources to take, but I do. I will appreciate any answers that anybody can give me. This situation seems beyond the ability of google to find, or I wouldn't bother you guys. Thanks in advance for any information anyone can give me.

You are not liable for your spouse’s taxes UNLESS you file a married joint return or incurred prior to marriage. You are not liable for those taxes, e.g., tax liabilities incurred for a tax year previous to the marriage, or tax liabilities incurred on a “married filing separate” return. Normally, you, a non-liable spouse and your separate property are not subject to IRS collection activity for the delinquent spouse's, your spouse’s, tax liability
