1099-MISC and schedule C
I worked a one week job for a company in 2008 that resulted in a 1099-Misc that has only info in box 7. I had no other income.
I'm a bit confused about which forms I need to file. I'm using the free online government site and it doesn't offer much help.
I think I need to file form 1040 with the Short Schedule SE filled out. Correct?
I'm not sure if I need to fill out schedule C or C-EZ or neither.
If I do need to fill out C or C-EZ I have these questions:
-I'm confused. Since this is just a business I worked for but didn't own am I supposed to be filling out the business address and EIN or do I leave that blank?
-On C-EZ would I be putting my info from box 7 on my 1099 in line 3 (net profit)? Would I put that same info in line 1 (gross receipts) or leave it blank?
Should Line 2 (total expenses) have a zero or be left blank?
-If I have to fill out out schedule C instead of C-EZ where am I supposed to put the info from box 7 of my 1099?
Thanks in advace for any help.
Also since these are just federal tax forms I'm filling out do I need to be filling out some kind of state tax forms also? If so what and for which state (I worked in a different one than I live)?
