Work in Manhattan-Live in NY vs. NJ?

I currently work and live in Manhattan, NY and I am pondering a move to more suburban areas while maintaining my job in NYC. I was wondering about the tax implications of living in Queens versus living in NJ and where I'll get taxed more given the different state income taxes and the NYC City Tax. Could someone please help? So from a tax perspective, where will I be better off assuming a salary of about $100,000? Thanks.

Also, it seems from other posts that I'd be better off in NJ, assuming I'm not buying a home and paying property taxes. But just looking at it from an income tax perspective, is the difference really that great? How much of a difference would it actually make given a $100,000 salary.

I just did the calculation based upon a $100,000 salary for a taxpayer living in NYC. The total projected tax liability as calculated on my software was a total (representing a combined New York State Tax & New York City Tax) of $11,672.

Whereas for New Jersey resident working in NJ State earning the same salary of $100,000, the total projected tax liability as calculated on my software was only around $4,394!

Why is there so much of a difference?
The principal reason as to why New York State Tax being so much higher, is the fact that you are being subjected to NYC taxes, due to your NYC residency, which is approximately $4,000!

Follow up question to Work in Manhattan-Live in NY vs. NJ

What would be the difference if my job remained constant and I continued to work in Manhattan. So the only difference would be my place of residence?

Scenario 1: Work in NYC, live in NYC/Queens.
Scenario 2: Work in NYC, live in NJ.
