Question First year E2 visa

I hope this is not a repeat but the last one disappeared into thin air...

Guru,
Could you please clarify a few things for me:
Background is that myself and wife moved here in August 2008 on an E2 employee visa. We expect to be here in the region of 2-3 years.
I have a SSN and I work - my wife has not applied for an SSN as we understand she needs a reason to apply for one such as intention to work. (which she does not although the visa allows it).
My employer has deducted income tax and medicare tax.
Do Ineed to file this time around and if so on what form and by what date and for what status?

Can I claim offset for:
My wife (if she needs SSN to claim is it too late for last year if we apply for number now)?
Removal costs from overseas to here?
Vehicle rental and apartment costs for any period?

Thanks if you can clear any confusion.
